  9. Since the sixteenth century, weavers in the African country of Ghana have produced narrow bands of textiles that are sewn together to create a panel of fabric known as kente cloth. The particular woven patterns are passed down within a family, and may symbolize a moral or parable.

  11. Kente cloth is traditionally associated with royal or aristocratic members of the Asante people. The kente is worn toga-style, along with decorated sandals, caps, and elaborate jewelry signifying the wearer‚Äôs high status.
